I have been silent for a few days now. There are a few reasons for this. Firstly, I feel that posting on dA is not giving the same kind of response it used to. Before my major silence a little while back, I felt like I was having a conversation. Now, I feel I'm mostly just doing show-and-tell. I know that is what dA is actually for, showing off your work, but I think I got more into the conversations than the mere posting. I miss that.
Second, and more positive, I am finally getting into the reboot of The Embassy! The game has shifted to a really high gear, with weird new methods to portray not just a universe, but a universe over time. 'Point clouds' and real scientific equations are slowly beginning to form the basis of it. Sadly, it doesn't look like much. I am considering a video series instead, so that people can at least see things move. I will make a note when and if that happens.
And third, I am writing stories again. I have no idea what will be brought from the old version of Ida's adventures (I have some ideas what won't, though), but the first new story is being written, essentially Ida's first adventure after having created / taken over The Embassy. It's an ecopunk horror novella, at 5000 words now and expected to tick in at about 15000 words in the end.
And finally, with the death of yet another kitten (Egon got run over in broad daylight by someone not watching the road), I have been taking a long hard look at some things. None of the two remaining cats (little Dylan and my cousin's old cat Big Charlie) are ever going to run outside freely again. I can loose no more. And I have decided to join the work of a local animal help group and set my house up as kind of a halfway home for abandoned animals, a place that they can live until hopefully adopted (and if not adopted, as long as they need to). It's a big step for me, and will take a lot of my attention, but I am still hard at work on the project, no worries...

Wow, I don't even know how this place works, anymore!
This is supposed to be a journal entry, my first in, what, ten months? Basically, a "I'm back" kind of thing. Not full throttle, but I am now trying to dedicate myself to some creative work again. 2018 has been absolute Hell, with death and misery surrounding me on all sides. My dad inches closer to death each day, now unable to speak or swallow, sitting in a wheelchair and eating through a tube. One of my kittens died two weeks back because of two vet screwups and possibly my inability to ask the third vet the right questions. And yeah, I'm broke as F, so if anyone wants to pay me for wri
As time goes by....
Holy crickets, it's been a while.
Yeah, life got weird, but I am slowly putting things back together again. Emphasis on "slowly", so don't expect too much right away. My dad went into a retirement home and is weakening faster than I'd like. My childhood home got sold and my garage has a trailer full of old belongings in it, waiting to be brought inside and sorted. Oh, and the kitten orphanage is still all up and running, with my house being home to 11 cats from ages 11 weeks to 11 years! And I am one tired little boy, just wanting life to be easier.
See you when things become less of a blur!
Into a million pieces....
Well, into 4096 pieces for each, but that sounds less poetic.
Hi. I'm not being that frequent of a blogger, I am aware. I am struggling against the demons of procrastination and everyday chores to get The Embassy into full gear again. The story is being written, but time and distractions wear me down. And to avoid driving myself into a corner of frustration, I mix the writing with some programming. Yes, my game, the one with the pretty pictures. Well, I think they were pretty, but...
Anyway, to achieve some balance in the programming, I have started producing the other extreme of the game, the part that is more playable. I have been advised
Cats and chaos
Yes, things are stil silent on my part. I am trying to rewrite the Ida stories (at first in Danish, sorry, but English should follow), but also, I am trying to make heads and tails of my life. The short of it is, my dad has gone to a nursing home to make sure his early dementia and ALS is handled right, while we try to get the house sold. On the home front, I have almost battled the fleas from my first attempt at kitten orphanaging to their knees. It's been a hard fight, but I rarely see those damned little crawling dots anymore, and never the big ones.
None of that means I am not a cat person, of course! I recently took in a little guy whos
